Terms and Conditions
International and New Zealand Freight Shipping Contracts

This is an outline of how the service we provide for our customers works:

  1. Customer submits a quotation request via our website, which outlines the household inventory schedule OR calls on 0800 00 55 55 to talk to Mark directly.
  2. From the inventory supplied, we can work out how large the container needs to be.
  3. From the information supplied, we can work out packing, transit, storage and all other costs associated with the move.
  4. We provide a written quote to the customer based on the information supplied.
  5. The customer confirms the booking by payment of a 10% deposit.
  6. Payment of the outstanding fees must be made prior to the delivery.
  7. The day before the move, we call the customer to confirm all arrangements with regard to packing and container drop off time.
  8. On the day of the move, our team arrives to wrap / pack / load the container depending on the services required.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The property to be moved is owned by the customer.
  2. Should the delivery address alter or split deliveries become a requirement, Freightstar reserve the right to charge any extra incurred expenses. Likewise if the day and time booked alters, due to house sale delay or any other event, we reserve the right to charge costs such as labour hire, re-delivery and any associated cost of operation should the need arise.
  3. Client to advise in advance of pick-up or delivery any hazards that may apply and be aware of obligations under the OSH Act.
  4. Should pickup or delivery access be other than that described Freightstar reserve the right to recover extra costs incurred, should extra labour, vehicle delay or extra resources be required to facilitate the job.
  5. If client is self unloading delivery will be performed by swing lift and placed in the nearest and safest position to residence. If Hiab or other vehicle type is required we reserve the right to charge the costs. These costs are to be paid directly by client to Hiab Company.
  6. Payment is due in full on the dates indicated on the invoice, should there be a delay in payment and Freightstar incur costs including container detention, demurrage re-delivery costs and debt collection costs as a result of non-payment we reserve the right to also charge these costs before delivery is performed.
  7. Once the job is confirmed by the client either verbally or in writing should the client delay re-neg or cancel, Freightstar reserve the right to charge all costs incurred to that point of operation including debt collection costs.
  8. Should the client lease or hire a container based on private property or roadside (outside standard perimeters of contract agreement) the client is responsible for any damage to container including cost of removal of tagging should that occur. (self load and self unloads only)
  9. Freightstar transport as per the Carriage Of Goods Act 1979. It is noted that Freightstar Ltd are not liable for loss or delay should goods be delayed in transit due to weather, late ship, vehicle delay, or transport connections. Self pack and self unload containers travel at owner's risk basis and the owner is to cover their own goods through existing arrangements with their own insurance company.
  10. Freightstar Ltd does not do an individual inventory list on full units. This is the client's responsibility. All containers to be padlocked by the owner. They will be counter sealed by Freightstar.
  11. Freightstar Ltd only completes an inventory list on LCL or overflow goods.
  12. Neither Freightstar Ltd nor its insurers accept liability for pot plants, or pots, kitset furniture that has not been dismantled, kitset wardrobes, deterioration of deep freeze, refrigerated food, or damage caused by moths, rats, vermin, wear and tear, pre-existing damaged or gradual deterioration, whilst in storage or transit. PLASMA TELEVISIONS must travel in the carton designed for them and it is the client's responsibility to ensure this is arranged, this is compulsory requirement from all insurance companies.
  13. Should a client elect to either arrange own insurance cover or not cover goods in transit or storage Freightstar advise that owner's risk applies.
  14. Customer agrees to lodge any claim in writing within seven (7) days of delivery of goods.
  15. Customer agrees to make full payment on due date indicated on the invoice, without deduction and no payments withheld, reduced deferred on any claim or counter claim set off or otherwise.
  16. The client must ensure that trees are trimmed or cut back along driveways to ensure that the conveying vehicle can access residence.
  17. Self load/self unloads; placement of container will be to the nearest and safest position possible, ultimately it is the client's responsibility and liability to ensure that foot traffic or vehicular traffic is not impeded and that public safety be considered.
  18. The customer agrees that the responsibility for the moving vehicle remains with the driver. He has the rights at all times to refuse to put his vehicle or persons at risk. Neither Freightstar nor its contractors accept responsibility to driveway or roadway surfaces or utilities that lie there under.
  19. Not withstanding any of the other provisions of the carriage of goods act 1979 Freightstar shall not be liable for the loss or damage resulted directly and without fault on the part of Freightstar from inherent vice or any breach of either of the term implied in the contract by section 17 of the carriage of goods act 1979 (party to warrant condition of goods etc) or seizure under legal process, or saving or attempting to save life or property in peril.
  20. Flammable or dangerous goods and liquids are not accepted for transit. This includes: paint, aerosol cans, LPG cylinders/tanks, explosive fuels, oils, hay and self combustible materials, ammunitions or guns, fertilisers.
  21. In the event that all goods do not fit in a unit as quoted an inventory list is to completed and signed by both parties.
  22. Should there be extra cost incurred due to overflow from one container, Freightstar reserve the right to levy extra costs incurred and advise the customer accordingly. Cost to be paid before re-delivery. If Container Relocations have visited the site for pre-inspection of move the cost will be borne by Container Relocations Limited. These goods will be moved at the earliest possible time of availability of space.
